Guinea pig Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a...guinea pig.

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

These sweet guinea pigs are named Theo and Cory. I'm guessing they have visions of carrots instead of sugar plums. Baby carrots, sliced carrots, carrots with the greens still on…You get the idea. Carrots are their absolute favorite!

I wish I had known how lovable guinea pigs were when I was a kid. I enjoyed my childhood gerbils but guinea pigs seem more cuddly. A dog groomer told me that guinea pigs require more care than people realize. She said they benefit from monthly nail clipping and occasional baths. Brushing is also important, especially for long-haired guinea pigs. They crave human contact and a simulating environment as well. I think I would have been up to the task as a child because I like furry critters.

Theo and Cory definitely have an idealic home. I should have taken a photo of their amazing, spacious cage with ramps leading up to a second story. These two are well cared for and loved!
